Course Highlights
At the end of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Understand the OSH Act/General Duty Clause and how it applies to them
- Recognize the importance of record-keeping on all construction projects
- Implement Sign Standards at the Jobsite and follow the requirements
- Identify General Health and Safety Requirements
- Summarize safety for Cranes and Derricks in Construction
- Be familiar with walking and working Surfaces in Construction and understand the role of General Housekeeping to keep the surfaces safe.
- Evaluate the Personal Protective equipment to be used for the job and understand what each component is for
- Apply Fire Protection and Prevention safety principals
- Recall best safety practices for welding and cutting and understand what a fire watch does
- Understand how critical Hazard Communication is on a project
- Evaluate hand and power tools for safety and stop a process if unsafe tools are found
- Recognize confined space dangers, safety, and roles of the confined space team
- Differentiate and apply safety requirements scaffolds, ladders, and working surfaces
- Demonstrate knowledge about hoisting, rigging, and load handling equipment safety procedures
- Summarize safety procedures for trenching and excavations
- Identify and solve electrocution hazards, proper PPE and safety requirements
- Analyze fall protection and prevention requirements and understand why they are required
- Illustrate struck-by hazards and integrate safe practices
- Identify caught in or between hazards and summarize the safety requirements
- Given the Conditions above, a learner that has successfully completed this course will be able to identify the various types of construction safety practices and OSHA regulations as well as be able to effectively communicate hazards to affected construction personnel on-site and can mitigate any safety risks found onsite. The degree of this achievement can be observed if the learner successfully passes all quizzes with a 70% or higher.
